Molding Process of PTFE Products

Although PTFE has many advantages, its production method is also different from other plastics. Teflon molded products use Teflon suspension resin in a steel mold, pressed on a press to form a blank, and then sintered. The molding process is as follows:

Drying → powder → weighing → pressing → sintering → shaping

1. Drying: In the process of transportation and retention, PTFE resin is easily damp due to improper retention (the body is more susceptible to moisture when the air temperature is high in summer), and the resin powder contains moisture, which can reduce the moisture during the high-temperature sintering process. Evaporation causes waste products to be listed. Therefore, the PTFE resin powder should be dried in a dry type before the powder.

2. Powder material: dry the resin powder at room temperature, mix the agglomerated powder waste with a dry method, and use it when pressing.

3. Weighing: Weighing is also an important step. If the height of a product is to be consistent, it is necessary to ensure that the material weight of each product is the same under the same mold and the same pressure.

4. Pressing: Put the weighed material into the cavity of the mold, place it on the press, press slowly according to the required pressure, and according to the size and thickness of the product, properly vent during the pressurization process. And after reaching the designated pressure, the size of the product is properly retained, generally within 0.5-15 minutes.

5. Sintering: Place the pressed PTFE blank in the sintering furnace as required, close the furnace door, and according to a certain sintering process and temperature requirements, the sintered blank becomes a PTFE product.

6. Shaping: During shaping, a certain method is used to restore the original shape of the product with a large deformation after sintering.
